Ainsi fait le déluge, noyant les hommes comme des chats, débarrassant la Terre de ses immondices et de ses mauvaises habitudes… Lorsqu’on fait table rase du passé, tout ne rentre pas dans les poubelles à la même vitesse… C’est bien pour ça que le siècle fut difficile aux monarques avant d’être insupportable aux gazés… Il pleut des victimes depuis cent ans, celles dont parlent les gazettes et celles dont tout le monde se moque. « Diane Ducruet’s work is characterized by her desire to query photography together with society. She has found her way of expressing herself with her unmistakable sense that allows us to see everyday life, especially the familiar atmosphere, in a new way. Since many of her images are remarkably suggestive even though they constantly shift conventional standards from the way they are set up, the observer follows the interlaced, occasionally absurd, and deconstructed paths. Nevertheless, the observer recognizes the central theme just by glancing at this patchwork of motherly love, physicality, extracts, montage, gestures, and the playing with shapes and materials. And so it cannot be overlooked that the image concepts of Ducruet’s self-portraits and the works of her « Family Album » are part of the intellectual effects and the expansion of themes circling gender identity, on the one hand around the fragmentation of the I and, on the other hand, around the vision of a full life. » (…)

„Inter faeces and urinam nascimur“?
„Zwischen Fäkalien und Urin erblicken wir das Licht der Welt?“ Seit den frühen Anfängen und zutiefst im Gegensatz zu diesem Satz des heiligen Augustinus kreiert die Fotografie Familiendarstellungen als Grundstein der Volkswirtschaft unseres 21. Jahrhunderts. Nach mehr als 200 Jahren eines ununterbrochenen Stroms von Abstammungslinien wissen wir noch immer nicht viel über jene Verbindungen des Fleisches und der Gedanken, welche über die Meere und Kulturen eingefangen wurden.
Seit fast 15 Jahren demontiert Diane Ducruet das traditionelle Familienalbum und seine Strategie der Freude mit Ihrer Familie als Hauptdarsteller – ihrer selbst, Mutter, Vater, Bruder, Freund und Sprösslinge – methodisch. In diesem neuesten Projekt von 2015, Mutter und Tochter II, schlägt sie weit entfernt von der ikonischen Pieta zwischen Mythen und Märchen eine neue Darstellung der Mutter-Tochter-Beziehung vor. Hier verbinden und bekämpfen sich zwei Körper um zu einer Einheit zu verschmelzen – das Porträt einer Kreatur, deren Körper zwischen Raum und Zeit eingesetzt wird und dabei den fixen Zustand eines fotografischen Dokuments herausfordert. Die Kreuzung und Duplizierung von Fotografien stürzen diese Serie in eine Groteske der Renaissance.
Diane Ducruet wurde 1973 in Lisieux, Frankreich geboren, wo sie auch Fotografie und Kunstgeschichte studierte. Heute lebt sie in Montreuil, einem Vorort von Paris. Ihre Arbeiten wurden bereits mehrfach in Europa und den USA ausgestellt.
